The Beer Cellar is the first store and taproom dedicated to selling fresh, thoughtfully-curated craft beer in the western suburbs of Chicago. Their mission is to provide the best and freshest beer in a community-focused gathering place. The design of their Geneva location seeks to embody this mission. The standing bar is a focal point, and encourages casual interactions between patrons. The shop space with cans and bottles to-go is the backdrop for these interactions, and allows one to comfortably browse while sipping the day's tap selections. To remain cost effective, the project uses reclaimed pallet wood and raw steel (chemically patinated and sealed post photography) in select locations to add character and interest.
