This project houses the material storage and workshop operations of the Glenview Park District, as well as a public meeting room for the surrounding community. Referred to as the “garage project” by the client, the small program is organized into two shed forms, separated by a strong visual and circulation axis. The composition of material rhythms and datum lines adds interest and clarity to the simple massing. The provision and control of views and day lighting throughout the project connect the staff and patrons to the adjacent tree nurseries and community gardens, while preserving the privacy of the neighboring residents.
